During my time with the BAGD I learnt about garden design history, plant science, soil structure, design techniques, drawing plans, and many other things that together make the design process methodical and efficient.
I continue to learn
As a garden designer I spend a lot of time learning more about the industry and have a good understanding of landscaping practices and horticultural knowledge. I attend courses and visit plant and material suppliers regularly as well and discussing new innovations with other designers and landscapers.
I understanding design techniques
I understand how to make a design flow and how a good design can benefit you and your lifestyle. All designs are different but there are various proven design methods that when used correctly can really elevate your space. I use my creativity to find functional solutions to problem areas.
I know about soil
I know the importance of soil type and how selecting the right plants and landscaping materials are vital to a garden performing as planned. I test soil at the start of the design process so I know what will work. I can also advise on how to amend and look after your soil.
I love plants!
I love plants, trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns, grasses even some so called weeds. They all have their place in a design and can be used in so many ways to create the garden style you want. I understand how plants grow and make sure our plant choices are right for you and your garden.
I think about all seasons
A garden is ever-changing especially a well designed one. Thinking about the seasons is very important to our designs. The structure of the garden is what will hold the garden together in winter and always give you something special to look at.

As a garden designer I like talking about gardens. I am happy to share my knowledge and keep in touch. Part of how we work is to build trust with our clients, communication and openness is key throughout the process.
